Elegance meets effortless comfort: The ribbed turtleneck sweater is crafted out of premium bio wool by and from the KNITWIT stable. The raglan sleeves give the classic silhouette of the sweater a special and elegant touch. This timeless piece will keep you warm for years to come.

Knitted in a pearl stitch, from a natural, undyed blend of 60% Dutch wool, 20% alpaca and 20% merino wool.
Traditional Dutch sheep have coarser wool fibers, giving them a tougher appearance, while alpaca wool is light, super soft, and strong—making them a perfect match. Wool is elastic, regulates moisture, cools in summer, warms in winter, resists bacteria, and is fire-retardant. Additionally, it grows back each year and is biodegradable.

By paying statiegeld (deposit), which will be refunded at the end of use, you ensure that this item becomes 100% circular and not end up as textile waste. When you add this item to your cart, the statiegeld will automatically be charged.

Where are your garments produced?
In our very own atelier: the NO-Kledingfabriek! Our first principle is "local", meaning we produce every garment with open doors, right around the corner. Want to take a look? Book your visit here.

Are your garments sustainable?
New Optimist makes and designs all garments to make as little pollution and waste as possible, and that it lasts as long as possible: we also offer free repair service when needed.
New Optimist always chooses materials so that the garment can eventually be recycled into new yarn at the end of life.

Will sizes or styles be restocked?
Sometimes! Because we try to make as little waste as possible, that means we're sometimes a little short in stock.
It's also possible we'll receive some sizes later than planned, or that some garments are still under construction in our atelier.

You can shoot us a chat message below or an email if you're waiting on a certain style, so we can keep you posted when it's available again!

Can I try your items on in-store?
Of course you can! We're located in Amsterdam West, you can book a timeslot to visit our Atelier Store here.

COLLABORATION: KNITWIT STABLE

The Knitwit Stable shows you why wool should get the appreciation it deserves.
They transform the wool industry, creating a fully bio-circular production chain that honors both traditional techniques and modern-day sustainability. From animal-friendly farming to innovative production, they’re leading by example.

MORE THAN A GARMENT

It’s about connecting with the makers, with the land, and with the materials. Reina OPTs for dutch wool because it’s renewable, resilient, and ready to reshape the future of fashion.
The results? Quality woolen garments that not only feel incredible but also capture everything we stand for at New Optimist—local production, circularity, and the joy of making something meaningful.

NON ITCHY DUTCH WOOL

The Knitwit Stable utilises overlooked local resources by looking for varieties with a lower itch factor,
as well as combining our Dutch wool with other fibers like merino and alpaca.
This mix of fibers allows our products to have the traditional appearance of Dutch wool while adding a level of softness.
